Terms & Conditions

Last Updated: 18 April 2025  |  Effective: 18 April 2025

1. Definitions

In these Terms and Conditions:

  • "The Firm", "we", "us" — Saujana Law, a law practice registered in Singapore
  • "Client", "you" — any person or entity who engages Saujana Law for legal services or who uses this website
  • "Services" — the legal services described on this website and in engagement letters
  • "Engagement Letter" — the written confirmation of scope and fee issued before any billable work commences
  • "Website" — the site at saujanal and all pages therein

2. Acceptance of Terms

By using this website or by engaging the firm for legal services, you confirm that you have read and understood these Terms and Conditions and that you agree to be bound by them.

Our services are available to individuals aged 18 and above who have the legal capacity to enter into a binding agreement. We reserve the right to decline any engagement at our discretion.

Use of this website does not itself create a lawyer-client relationship. A lawyer-client relationship is established only upon our written confirmation in an Engagement Letter.

3. Description of Services

Saujana Law offers three principal legal services:

  • Pension Vista Letter (SGD 215) — a written assessment of a client's pension and retirement position
  • Long Course in Pension Disputes (SGD 510) — representation in pension disputes, by negotiation or formal proceedings
  • Distant Horizon Estate Plan (SGD 360) — preparation of a will, lasting power of attorney, and aligned pension nominations

The precise scope of each engagement is set out in the Engagement Letter. The fees listed above are the full fixed fees for each service as described. Where a client requires work outside the stated scope, this will be agreed in a separate written instruction.

4. Fees and Payment

Fees are as described in Section 3 and confirmed in the Engagement Letter. Payment is due in full before or at the conclusion of the engagement, as specified in the Engagement Letter. We accept payment by bank transfer or such other methods as we confirm in writing.

Fees are denominated in Singapore Dollars (SGD). All fees include Goods and Services Tax (GST) where applicable at the prevailing rate.

Refunds: Because legal work is carried out specifically for each client, fees are not refundable once the engagement has commenced unless the firm has been unable to carry out the work for reasons within its control. Any refund entitlement will be assessed on a case-by-case basis and confirmed in writing.

5. Client Responsibilities

Clients are responsible for:

  • Providing accurate and complete information relevant to the legal matter
  • Disclosing any information that may be material to the work, even if not specifically requested
  • Attending arranged sittings at the agreed time, or providing reasonable notice of any need to reschedule
  • Responding to requests for information or approval within a reasonable time
  • Making payment in accordance with the Engagement Letter

We cannot be held responsible for outcomes that result from information that was withheld from us or provided inaccurately.

6. Intellectual Property

All written work product — including letters, plans, and legal documents — prepared by the firm for a client becomes the property of that client upon full payment. The firm retains the right to retain a copy for its own records.

All content on this website — including text, design, and structure — is the property of Saujana Law and may not be reproduced without written permission.

7. Disclaimers

Information on this website is provided for general purposes only and does not constitute legal advice. Reading this website does not create a lawyer-client relationship.

Legal advice is provided only in the context of a specific engagement, on the basis of the facts and circumstances of your matter. The law changes over time, and we do not commit to updating the content of this website to reflect every such change.

8. Limitation of Liability

Our liability to you in connection with any engagement is limited to the fee paid for that specific engagement, except where liability cannot be excluded or limited by Singapore law.

We are not liable for indirect, consequential, or economic losses arising from the use of this website or from the provision of legal services, except to the extent that such liability cannot lawfully be excluded.

Nothing in these Terms limits our liability for fraud, wilful misconduct, or any liability that cannot be excluded or capped under applicable professional rules.

9. Termination of Engagement

Either party may bring an engagement to an end by written notice. If you terminate after work has commenced, you will be liable for the reasonable cost of work carried out up to the point of termination, not exceeding the agreed fixed fee.

The firm may terminate an engagement where required by professional conduct rules, where you have provided materially inaccurate information, or where you have failed to pay amounts due. We will give reasonable notice where circumstances permit.

10. Governing Law and Disputes

These Terms and Conditions are governed by the laws of Singapore. Any dispute arising from them will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the Singapore courts, unless we agree in writing to an alternative resolution process.

We encourage clients with concerns about our services to raise them with us directly in the first instance. Many difficulties can be resolved through direct conversation.

11. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms and Conditions from time to time. The version in effect at the time of your engagement will govern that engagement. Continued use of this website after any update constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
